Whit Merrifield is a Perfect Match for the Phillies

Whit Merrifield signed an 8 million One year deal with the Philadelphia Phillies today and it is a match made in heaven for both Merrifield and the Phillies

The Phillies are lacking a starting outfield and bench depth which Merrifield can fill both roles. Merrifield will have to compete with Johan Rojas for a starting outfield spot. Rojas is one of the best defenders in the MLB but his bat is horrific. Merrifield gives you an above average bat and is a solid defender. Rojas has been bulking up this offseason with multiple photos on social media being spread with a little PED suspicion.

 It's a win-win for the Phillies, if Rojas gets better at the plate he would be a great defender with a solid bat in the lineup majority of the time while Merrifield would be the ultimate Utility bench player. If Rojas doesn't improve at the plate Merrifield would be a solid starter for the Fightins. The Phillies continue to prove why they are the best team in Philly.

The bigger question would be if Merrifield starts would he lead off for the Phillies or would they stick with Schwarber. All I know is it's almost baseball season and I can't wait for the Phillies to win the pennant.
