Wyndham Clark became a main stream golfer in 2023, winning the US Open and in 2024 shot the lowest round at Pebble Beach. Getting to learn more about Wyndham in Season two of Netflix's Full Swing being able to see how his journey with his sports psychologist has led to his success on the course. Clark has peaked in the 2024's World Golf Rankings at three. Clark has moved up 100+ spots in the rankings from 2023 to 2024. Clark in two of the bigger non-major tournaments the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship came in second in both events. Everything was looking up Clark and going into Augusta Wyndham Clark had favorable odds even though it was Clark's first Masters appearance.

Wyndham Clark in the first round of The Masters finished with a score of +1, scoring was low in the first round so Clark's score was respectable and still in the hunt. After a solid first round Clark might have been a little too cocky about his performance. When asked how he feels going into the rest of the tournament Clark said

"In LIV Golf they only play 54, so I like my chances."

Clark with an out of nowhere jab at LIV Golf put a major target on Clark's back going into the second round and he did not live up to the hype. Clark shout a 78 which put him +6 on the day and +7 in the tournament which did not make the cut. Obviously it's always bad to get cut at The Masters but making fun of LIV Golfers for only playing 54 holes meanwhile Clark got cut after 36 is not a great look for an up and coming golfer.

Following the Masters Tournament Clark was tied for third at the RBC Heritage, it would make sense for Clark to struggle at Augusta playing it for the first time but follow the RBC Heritage Clark put up a really poor performance at the Wells Fargo Championship and got his next big shot at the second major of the year at the PGA Championship. Wyndham Clark lost a lot of hype after The Masters and his answer back at Valhalla was another missed cut. It was the de ja vu at the PGA Championship with Clark shooting par in the first round and followed it up with a doozy in the second round finishing the PGA Championship with a +4. Clark in that stretch from February to March of this year he was electric to watch and was a cold blooded killer on the course. Clark after skipping the Charles Schwab Challenge and the Canadian Open entered the Memorial Tournament this weekend and through the first round Clark shot +5. With the Memorial Tournament having a cut at the Top 50 and Wyndham Clark currently tied for 66th. He would need a killer second round which hasn't been working out recently for Clark.

Wyndham Clark is a good golfer he's just in a funk right now, this is what we saw early in Clark's career where he dominated at the University of Oregon but was struggling on tour. With Clark coming into next weeks US Open as the reigning champ a lot of eyes will be on Clark who will be looking to not go three for three on missed cuts the first three majors. No one cheering more for Wyndham Clark next week but to see one of the top golfers on the PGA Tour fall off the face of the earth is not a great sign for a weird year on tour.
