It Wouldn't be an Eagles Offseason Without a Quarterback Controversy

It's officially OTA season and if you haven't followed since the Phillies are owning this city for good reason I don't blame you. Through a crazy Eagles offseason including a massive Saquon Barkley signing along with an amazing draft class I don't think anyone expected the first story out of OTAs to be about the Eagles new backup quarterback Kenny Pickett.

Kenny Pickett grew up a Philadelphia Eagles fan going to games at the Linc and living his dream now after the Steelers traded Pickett to the Eagles. I'm a major Kenny Pickett fan and excited to have him in the room with Jalen Hurts. I would love for Kenny Pickett to succeed but Jalen Hurts is the Eagles QB for the time being so I ride with Hurts. Howie Roseman has made it a top priority to have one of if not the best QB rooms in the NFL. In the past couple years having Joe Flacco who had a monster year in Cleveland last year in the same room with Hurts and now starting quarterback for the Raiders Gardner Minshew making it an unbelievable QB room. In a city where a backup quarterback came in to win a Super Bowl they value the backup quarterback more than any other team in the league. Pickett was a 1st Round pick in 2022 and after a disconnect between Pickett and Pittsburgh they sent him to the Eagles to be the backup quarterback. There are zero expectations for Pickett now in Philly but that might have been what he needed. Even though it's early in OTAs but Pickett has been the talk of the camp. Hidden behind the greatest Phillies start of all time Pickett is turning heads early.

Other Eagles fans on twitter start calling out fake news about Pickett but I don't think this is a bad thing. Obviously the "outperforming" Jalen Hurts isn't something to freak out about but if Kenny Pickett plays like a starter I don't hate having one of the best backup in the league. You never know when you need a backup quarterback and Kenny Pickett being the South Jersey kid will make him a fan favorite easily.
But at the end of the day it's May so all of this means nothing at the end of the day, just focus on the greatest Phillies team of all time.
