Did Nick Dunlap Fool All of Us?

Nick Dunlap was a household name after being the first amateur to win on the PGA Tour since Phil Mickelson in 1991.

After that Dunlap accepted his invite to the PGA Tour which is a major accomplishment for the 21 year old. Dunlap since then has participated in two PGA events since his win at The American Express Open.

Dunlap played in the his first PGA Tour event as an official PGA golfer at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am where only playing 3 rounds Dunlap shot a +7. It was his first event as an official PGA golfer and maybe combined with some nerves it just wasn't his best performance. He followed up his poor performance with withdrawing from the WM Open, maybe he wasn't feeling good or wasn't ready for the crazy crowd but he decided to return at The Genesis Open.

Dunlap at The Genesis Open shot a +3 and missed the cut. He's had a rough couple of days at The Genesis Open, is he a below average golfer or is it just early?

I'm not going to overreact here but the overreaction Dunlap was getting after the American Express Open with analysis saying he was the next "Great One"/"Tiger" which might have put Dunlap in a tough spot.

Dunlap has such high expectations that it might be hard for him to live up to the hype but then again it is early. Dunlap has a long career ahead of him but let's calm down on the expectations until he has a round that's at least even.

I think Dunlap will end up being fine but you have to wonder how much money LIV Golf offered him.
